Q. How can i quickly check my transmission fluid?

A. Most vehicles have a transmission dip stick simular to the engine dip stick. With the engine running and in park pull the dipstick out and check the level it should be at the warm level. If to low top up with manufacturer suggested transmission fluid, and visa versa.

Q. What color should my transmission fluid be?

A.  Transmission fluid is transparent red in color when in good condition. If the fluid is cloudy, muddy brown, or black and/or it smells burnt, you should have the vehicle checked out as soon as possible.

Q. What are some signs that my transmission is going bad?

A. Some signs are

• The engine revs high but the vehicle doesnt move equally.
• Vibration when taking off from a stop.
• Unusual sounds when vehicle shifts through gears.
• Hesitation.
• No reverse.
• Leaks leaving red fluid under your vehicle.
• Hard engagment through shifts
• Sudden jump in engine RPM and not equal acceleration (Slipping)

Q. How often should i get a transmission service?

A. Challenger Transmission recommends that a transmission service be done once a year or every 30000km. Inorder to prolong the life of your transmission.

Q. How long would it usually take to repair my transmission?

A. According to the type of repair, time will vary. Minor repairs usually can be done the same day, rebuilds usually take a day and a half because the transmission will have to be removed overhauled and installed. A flush of the cooler is also done inorder to prevent past particles from reentering your rebuilt transmission.
